Getting Started

When you start the process of crafting a vision—typically led by the owner, CEO, and occasionally the board of directors—you’re envisioning the future of the company and where you want it to go.

Try this exercise:

Sit at your desk with a blank sheet of paper. Imagine an ideal scenario for your company—what would it look like?

Avoid limiting yourself by thinking about what is feasible or the obstacles you might face. Jot down all your ideas and aspirations, no matter how ambitious they may seem. Think about where you want the company to be and how you want it to appear in 5 to 10 years. This type of visioning exercise can also be beneficial for project teams and department leaders, generating enthusiasm for the work ahead.
